A Jam-Packed January!

Residents Enjoying some Food

At Harrier Grange Care Home, we had a fantastic start to the year with plenty of activities, birthdays, and entertainment. Our Activities Team have done an incredible job in ensuring that we have a full and varied activities programme for our residents and that they always have something to look forward to.

Coffee Mornings

Work on our café recently finished and what better way to celebrate than with hosting a coffee morning for our residents. Our new and improved Cosy Café proved to be a real hit with our residents and makes a great addition to the fine dining options we have to offer here at Harrier Grange Care Home. Our café will be used for future coffee mornings and afternoon tea and will be a great space for our residents to sit back, socialise and enjoy a hot drink and home-baking.

Cheese & Wine Tasting

We understand that many of our residents appreciate the finer things in life, and we don't want residents to feel as though they can't enjoy their favourite things now that they have moved into a care home. With all health and allergy measures being taken into consideration, we hosted two cheese and wine tasting nights for our residents.

Both nights went down very well and were a great way for our residents to not only socialise and indulge in these treats but also for them to try something a bit different. Goats cheese proved to be the most popular amongst our residents so it seems as though our Head Chef, James will need to start incorporating this into more of our resident's meals!

Lots of Birthday Celebrations

January has been a popular month for birthdays, as we celebrated three of our lovely residents' special days. Each resident was presented with their very own birthday cake, personalised with their name and decorated beautifully with colourful icing.

We offer plenty of ways for our residents to celebrate their birthdays, whether it's with a relaxing day to themselves in the Salon & Nail Bar, with other residents in our Cinema Room or even with their family members in our private room.

A Concert by Dave Dawson

At the end of January, we were delighted to invite music entertainer Dave Dawson to our home to put on a concert for our residents. Dave has over 30 years of experience in performing and specialises in guitar and singing. Dave is a resident favourite and everyone had a thoroughly wonderful afternoon, some even getting up and dancing, and others taking to the mic to sing themselves!

We understand how important it is to welcome entertainment to the home, as our residents enjoy watching all the different acts and music entertainment is especially engaging and stimulating for all residents including those living with Dementia. At this time we are taking health and safety precautions and therefore Dave and other entertainers are performing through the window but we look forward to being able to either have them join us in the home, or to watch them out in the garden on a warm and sunny day!
