Exciting New Destination Points Bring Joy to Our Home

We’re thrilled to unveil our brand-new destination points, thoughtfully designed to bring warmth, familiarity, and a sense of purpose to daily life in our home. These unique spaces create engaging environments where residents can relax, socialise, and enjoy meaningful activities.
- The Flying Harrier – A cosy pub with a nod to Thruxton race track, where residents can enjoy a friendly chat over a drink, reminisce about days gone by, or simply soak up the inviting atmosphere.
- Harrier Bay – A peaceful beach-themed retreat, offering a calming space to unwind, listen to soothing seaside sounds, or enjoy a moment of tranquillity.
- Harrier Reading Nook – A quiet and cosy spot, perfect for book lovers to enjoy their favourite stories, sparking conversation and nostalgia.
- Harrier Boutique – A delightful space where residents can browse and borrow clothing and jewellery, recreating the joy of shopping and dressing up.

These spaces aren’t just visually appealing for our residents, they have been carefully created with our residents' interests and well-being in mind. Having recognisable landmarks within the home helps residents feel more confident as they move around, supporting independence, social interaction and orientation.
Our destination points particularly benefit our residents living with dementia, as they can serve as a calming and familiar space for them to reminisce and enjoy alongside like-minded individuals.
Celebrating Employee of the Month
A big congratulations to our Deputy Manager, Salim Cheethayil, for being awarded Employee of the Month for January 2025. Salim’s dedication and compassionate approach make a real difference in the lives of our residents, and we’re incredibly grateful for all he does.

Resident Spotlight – Norman Petit
We feel very privileged when our residents share their wonderful memories and talents with us. One such resident is Norman, a highly skilled motocross rider who travelled extensively across the country to race on his very own Rickman Brothers bike. The Rickman brothers, Derek and Don, were renowned for their craftsmanship in building lightweight, high-performance motorcycles, particularly in the 1960s and 1970s.
Amazingly, after being rebuilt a few times, Norman's bike is still out there being ridden today. He fondly recalls the exhilarating Sunday scrambles and the camaraderie among fellow riders. Norman's stories not only highlight the rich history of motocross but also the enduring spirit of adventure and community that defines the sport. His experiences continue to inspire and connect us to a vibrant past. We feel very lucky that he has shared these cherished memories with us.
