Fun in the Sun

Residents Outside

The pupils from Farleigh School, a Catholic preparatory day and boarding school in Red Rice, visited our residents to enjoy all the excitement of a Summer Fun Day.

Our wonderful team arranged the event, which was the perfect opportunity for two generations to come together and enjoy the simple fun of fairground games such as tin-can alley, splat-the-rat and hook-a-duck.

Chris Martin, our Activities Co-Ordinator, also arranged for the pupils and residents to team up for more genteel garden games like boule, giant snakes and ladders and garden croquet.

There was laughter and fun in our home as the school children took on our residents at table football and skittles. Those who chose to had their faces painted, and arts and crafts stalls were available for all. The pupils also ran a refreshments staff at the fun day, providing everyone with drinks and cake.

Kay Kelly, our Home Manager, said: "The residents, children, teachers, and staff have all thoroughly enjoyed the Summer Fun Day and it was wonderful to see the residents playing games alongside the pupils from Farleigh school and striking up lovely relationships."

"Residents enjoyed joining in with the children's games and teaching them some of the rules to the more traditional games that the children didn't know. We know that whenever we have schools into visit there is always a really positive impact on our residents and the pupils have lots of fun too."
