Glad to Care Week 2023

Our care team with some residents at Harrier Grange Care Home

The purpose of Glad to Care Awareness Week is to celebrate and recognise those that work in the care sector and show appreciation for their dedication and contribution to the lives of those that they care for and their loved ones.

At Harrier Grange Care Home in Hampshire, we had a week of celebrations for our staff in order to ensure they feel recognised and valued, and so that our residents live in a positive environment and are cared for by a friendly, happy team.

Monday - Facebook Appreciation Posts:

We started the week by asking all of our carers why they got into caring and why they feel it is so important to them. We created social media posts for our Facebook page to show all our residents and relatives why the people that care for them are so glad to do so.

Tuesday - Cake and Cards:

Our activities team worked together with our kitchen staff to create some delicious blueberry muffins for all of the carers, both day and night, for them to enjoy on their well-earned breaks!

Residents also got involved and made beautiful handmade cards in one of our arts & crafts sessions, to present to the carers in their quiet time. The cards detailed some beautiful, kind words and thank you’s for all the hard work they do each and every day.

Our Activities Co-Ordinator Dean also wrote out a beautiful poem which he read out to everyone to truly capture the gratitude we all feel towards them.

Wednesday - Pizza Day:

Day three of our Glad to Care Week celebrations saw us ordering tasty Pizza from Domino's for our carers to enjoy at tea time.

At Harrier Grange, we are a close-knit team who all value each other, are respectful towards one another, and share so much together, so we made sure there was enough to go around for all the staff day and night.

Thursday - ‘Mocktail’ Hour:

As well as Glad to Care Week, we’ve also experienced a heatwave. We appreciate how hard our carers work at any given time, especially during these warmer temperatures.

To help them through the heat, we thought it was only fitting to keep them cool and refreshed with 'Mocktails' as well as a pamper party to help them feel relaxed.

Friday - Raffle and Ice Cream:

We signed off the week by holding a raffle where we had some vouchers up for grabs and drew names from a hat to see which lucky carers won.

As the weather remained warm, we also organised an ice cream van for all members of staff to enjoy on their breaks amd to say a big thank you for all their hard work.
