Supporting BBC Children in Need at Harrier Grange

Children in need celebrations

This month, our care home came alive with warmth, laughter, and the spirit of giving as we hosted a delightful high tea fundraiser in support of BBC Children in Need. The event brought together residents, their loved ones, and staff for a heartwarming afternoon filled with good food, fun activities, and the shared joy of contributing to a meaningful cause.

The day began with the tables beautifully set with traditional fine china, fresh flowers, and an assortment of mouth-watering treats lovingly prepared by our talented kitchen team. From delicate finger sandwiches and buttery scones topped with jam and cream to an array of tempting cakes, every detail of the high tea was carefully planned to create a truly special experience for our residents and their families.

But it wasn’t just about the food. The afternoon was alive with engaging activities that brought smiles to every corner of the room. Residents and guests eagerly joined in on a themed quiz, tested their skills at Bear-Pong, and enjoyed the light-hearted competition of Bearingo. For many, the highlight of the event was the raffle, which created an air of anticipation and excitement as participants waited to see if their numbers were called.

Residents celebrating children in need

Events like this are more than just social gatherings, they are an essential part of life in our care home. They provide opportunities for residents to connect with others, share moments of joy with loved ones, and engage in activities that enrich their daily lives. For those who may not see family often, these occasions create a vibrant and welcoming community where everyone feels included and valued. Such events help foster a sense of purpose and belonging, which is vital for emotional and mental wellbeing.

The high tea fundraiser also reinforced the positive impact of collective giving. Knowing that their participation was supporting BBC Children in Need added an extra layer of meaning for many of our residents. As one resident said, “It’s wonderful to feel like we’re helping make a difference. It makes you proud to be part of something bigger.” Their words perfectly captured the spirit of the day, a blend of fun, togetherness, and a shared desire to give back.

This event was a testament to the strength of our care home community. The generosity and enthusiasm shown by residents, relatives, and staff alike were truly inspiring, enabling us to make a fantastic contribution to BBC Children in Need. More importantly, it created an environment where everyone could share the simple joys of being together, enjoying each other’s company, and making lasting memories.

As the afternoon drew to a close, the room was filled with smiles and heartfelt conversations. It was clear that this wasn’t just a successful fundraiser, it was a day that would be fondly remembered by all who attended. Events like these are at the heart of what makes our care home so special: a place where every resident feels supported, valued, and truly at home.
