Tai-Chi

Residents Doing Tai Chi

Our residents had a great Tai-Chi session with the Mayor of Test Valley - Cllr Carl Borg-Neal, last week.

Leigh Eastman from Eden Therapy, based in Upper Clatford, led the Tai-Chi class, which is designed to improve muscle co-ordination, cleanse the body of toxins and help balance and calm emotions.

Our Home Manager, Kay Kelly said: “From our experience, activities which involve gentle exercise are always popular with our residents which is why we thought it would be great for them to have a go at Tai-Chi."

“Tai-Chi has many benefits for older adults including stress relief, strengthening lower body and legs, reducing blood pressure and encouraging mind and body to work together through mental imagery. It is also known to build overall strength, improve balance and ultimately prevent falls."

“The residents also had lots of fun and it was so lovely to see Cllr Carl-Borg Neal back at Harrier Grange. He came to our open day back in June and said he would like to get involved with activities at the home so we invited him to join the fun and we were delighted he could make it."

“Leigh from Eden Therapy was fabulous so we will be definitely be looking to book her again in the future.”
