There’s Lots of Festive Fun to be had at Harrier Grange
At Harrier Grange Care Home, it is our mission to enable our residents to make more of every day, and this December has been no different. Our dedicated pair of Activity Coordinators have arranged for our lovely residents to take part in a whole host of festive activities and it is safe to say that fun has been had by all.
A Gingerbread Masterpiece
At Harrier Grange, we kickstarted the Christmas season with a gingerbread house which was lovingly created and decorated by our talented Head Chef, James and with the help of some of our residents. Covered in smarties, jelly sweets and pretzels, our residents and staff loved the beautiful colours and attention to detail, and enjoyed eating it even more!
A key part of our residents continuing to do what they love at Harrier Grange is maintaining their independence. Baking and decorating is a chance for our residents to stimulate their senses to bring back fond memories and encourage them to socialise with one another.
Paper Chains and Colouring In
The residents enjoyed spending days preparing for Christmas by decorating and crafting their very own Christmas decorations to ensure that Harrier Grange is decked with the most beautiful paper chains and festive arts and crafts.
We encourage our residents to achieve the most out of each and every day. In order to do so, our devoted activities coordinators put together a range of different activities so our residents get to spend time with one another, meet new people and maintain or develop new skills and hobbies.
We inspire our residents to make full use of the programmes and facilities that we have to offer at Harrier Grange, whether it is participating in arts and crafts, getting pampered in our salon, or taking the time to relax in our very own cinema. No matter what our residents like to do, there is always something for everyone.
Our Favourite Traditions
Another year, another fantastic Christmas cake! Every year Cathy makes the most delicious and wonderfully decorated Christmas cake. She starts back in September and spends three months feeding the cake with Brandy. It is then wrapped in marzipan and left a while longer before the icing goes on. The cakes are great every year, but we think this is her best yet!
Another much-loved tradition at Harrier Grange is the receiving of Christmas cards, lovingly created by the students at Farleigh School. It is becoming an annual Christmas tradition which the residents very much look forward to. The students put a lot of effort into the cards they send and it really does fill our residents with festive cheer. Thank you Farleigh School.
A Christmas Performance
We were determined to not let COVID ruin Christmas for our residents, so we invited Maddison Douch to our gardens at the home, where she played all our favourite songs and some great festive hits through the window. Our residents enjoyed listening to the fantastic music whilst indulging in their favourite sweet treats and spending quality time with one another and our friendly staff members.
A Festive Success at Harrier Grange Care Home
A massive thank you to the devoted staff at Harrier Grange Care Home for putting on such a wide range of activities for our residents to get involved within the lead up to Christmas, it is easy to say that it was an overall huge success and our residents loved every minute of it.
