Zumba Gold Fun!
Our residents were able to test out the lastest Zumba Gold craze last week...
Lynn Redman from Valley Leisure, a charity based in West Street, Andover, led the Zumba Gold activity which develops cardiovascular capacity, muscular strength and endurance, as well as promoting improved bone density and prevention of osteoperosis.
Valley Leisure was established in 1990 and aims to promote health and wellbeing within the local community by getting ‘more people more active’. The charity seeks to engage with people of all ages and physical abilities to promote active lifestyles in furtherance of the public benefit.
Our Home Manager, Kay Kelly said: “From our experience, activities which involve exercise with an element of fun are always a hit with residents."
“Zumba Gold is great because it has a genuine health benefit, but also the amusement of shaking the maracas to the rhythm of the music and movement."
“Zumba was also open to all of the residents and it was equally as effective if you took part seated in your chair, which meant everyone could get involved without necessarily having to have 100 per cent mobility."
“It brought a smile to all of their faces and everyone asked when Lynn was going to visit again - I have assured them she will be back again soon!"
